Tuerk House Outpatient Clinic (THOC)

The Tuerk House Outpatient Clinic (THOC) offers

  • intensive outpatient treatment and
  • standard outpatient treatment

Outpatient treatment is an immediate follow-up to residential treatment. The majority of Tuerk House’s outpatients graduated from the Tuerk House residential program. Both standard and intensive treatment follow a two-phase model. Each phase is designed to last at least three months.

Phase 1: Clients attend group-counseling sessions three times per week for three months.
Phase 2. Clients attend group-counseling sessions once a week for another three months. In addition, outpatients are required to attend 48 Twelve-Step meetings over the six-month period of their treatment at various community facilities.

In an effort to motivate clients to stay in treatment, a certificate of completion is awarded at the close of the program. A graduation ceremony, held twice a year, celebrates the completion of the outpatient program.

Halfway Houses

Tuerk House currently provides transitional housing at three locations in Baltimore City and Howard County. For locations and directions to our halfway houses, please visit locations.

Our halfway houses provide a safe living environment and focus on the resident gaining the skills to live drug free in the community. To accomplish this, residents are expected to attend school, seek employment, and strive for financial independence.

Our halfway house programs employ the same treatment approach that is practiced in the Tuerk House Outpatient Program. Treatment includes group and individual counseling and expands upon the lessons learned during residential treatment. Residents are expected to stay between six months and one year. A certificate of completion is granted for both phases of the outpatient program.

Halfway house counselors work with an array of community resources and Partners to accomplish the program’s educational and vocational objectives. Upon completing the halfway house program, clients frequently move to a different level of transitional housing, i.e. Oxford Houses, a stepping stone to more independent living.
